TNR Rolling Photo's ala Bill

Some nice shots of the group from W. S. Note the Ansel Adams wannabe. Todd looks good in the full kit. Those are not capri length shorts........they are "man-pri's".........always one step ahead when it comes to fashion.....

TNR July 29th. Blue Jean Baby Queen

"but I'm scared" said Todd as the weather radar flashed red and purple. Buck up Sally I said, the rain is 100 klicks away. With that, a nice group rolled out for a tip to Valley road. Some nice escort photo's follows the group as they head out of town.
Two weeks, four broken collarbones and a plate full of road rash reminds us to pay attention.
We go at 5:23pm next Tue. SO2

Steve tells all. TNR review and view.

On a beautiful evening as the climax of the Tour was playing out, Our little peloton got organized early. Guys were taking short pulls before we got to Huron road. With that prologue, we headed down Luxemburg road at 23-24 mph into a mild headwind. Bob brooked no wimping out on Rendezvous or even Valley road as we kept going east to add a few extra miles. We upped the pace as County A lost altitude on the way to C, then headed towards Casco. Just before Casco, I was on the verge of losing contact with the group, so I was glad for the momentary slow down within the city limits (to about 20 mph) so I could catch back on.

2 miles out of Casco, I got a lesson on the dangers of a 20 rider single file pace line on an unfamiliar route. The leaders slowed down to make a right turn onto County K, and by the time the slowdown made it to the end of the line it was a quick hard grab of the brakes. Before I knew it, my front wheel was grinding hard against the back tire of the bike in front of me. I don't think I actually saw any smoke, but my front tire reeked like a NASCAR racer doing burnouts after a race. Eventually, I got behind the wheel without going down on the pavement. But I darted right, and there was no road to the right, only a deep ditch. I thought for a millisecond that I might ride it out, but as I let the bike find its way through the weeds, the front wheel dropped out from underneath me, and I tumbled head first into the ground. I unclipped as I somersaulted, and the bike came to rest 10 or 15 feet down the road from me. It seemed like a soft landing, so I popped up right away and grabbed my bike, looking for damage. Fortunately, there was none, so I got back on and finished the ride, actually feeling stronger during the second half than during the first.

I feel pretty good today; just a little stiff in the hip flexor, and I'm sure that will be gone by tomorrow. I just have one request. Todd, next week don't even mention crashing on the ride. I'd hate to have to start thinking of you as a prophet!

TNR July 22nd. Tri'in times and beefcakes

A nice bunch enjoyed superbe weather with modest winds as they headed east to Valley Road to complete a 60k circuit. Included in the group were the famous Metzger duo fresh from a stellar day at the Door County Half Ironman on Sun. See www.doorcountytriathlon.com for info. Our own Keelan pulled off a stunning 5:00 hour performance with Deb turning a 3rd in her age class outing. Note the photo of Jeff "beefcake" Metzger. Next week we ride at 5:23pm as we are just starting to see our days shorten a touch. 24/9 is also coming up, time to get the lights out and start test cycling them.

Check out Chris on his new ride........sweet! Lastly, Jon says Fruit Punch Sport Beans are just too good. Get out, ride but as always SO2.

TNR July 15th Pedal to the Metal Mouth

A nice group headed to Valley Road under hot and humid conditions. The pace was brisk but steady as the group held together. Returning was Jennifer who stuck it out despite having her mouth wired shut from a crash several weeks ago. Her Gu and Frappe diet is wearing thin.
On another note Jules Blank was noticably absent after center-punching a Doberman last week. He joins the broken collar bone club. His Speedo modeling days are over.
Tonight marks the midpoint of the year. Remember those below zero days next time you think it's too hot to ride. We leave at 5:24pm next Tue. Hope it's hot.
