I'm Not Free.....I'm expensive!

The Green Bay weather saga continued this Tuesday with brisk winds, cool temps and threatening skies as 10 riders braved the nasty’s and rode out. Roy was the 1st casualty with a broken spoke/trashed wheel. It only has 10 thousand plus miles on it he said. Don’t worry; Mr. Mavic will make another one for him. Following the ride we enjoyed 36 hours of rain here in GB with cold and wind thrown in for a bonus. Today we broke out the sun and it feels great. We are scheduled to ride next Tue. At 5:30 so be here for what I predict will be the first nice ride of the year.

Women take note of the June third start of the women’s morning ride from the Howard YMCA. It is early but your day will be complete at just 7:00am, sweet. Check out our homepage www.incompetition.com for more.

TNR May 19th Beware the Bob

He’s bad and he’s Bob. That’s right Bob led the train on a sunny but cool night. Arm warmers came out for some and were wished for by all at the end. The wind which has plagued the ride this year did not disappoint. That said a bad wind beats a bad day at work. The weather is finally starting to turn so be sure to get the word out as we leave next Tuesday with two groups, at 5:30PM.

TNR for May 12th.
True to form the wind picked up prior to the ride and swirling promised a nice hard effort. It was warmer but only low 60s which prompted Todd and others to don the arm, skirt and leg warmers. A good group of 14 rolled out. More to come.

TNR April 28th Feelin' Pinky

Like Swallows and Capistrano, the shaved legs have returned and like a Robin in a snowstorm the cold weather has everyone feeling a little pink in the skin.
The weather tonight was bright sun and NNE wind with 40’s on tap. 11 tough guys rolled out together to share the road and the load. One of these days the weather will warm but for now you run what you brung. We add distance next week. Be ready to ride at 5:30pm.

Tuesday Night Ride, rain and more

Snow on April 20th 2009

I have been re-miss recently on updates. Spring is always busy here and despite the rotten weather we have been on the go. The Dick Lytie Spring Classic was a success with nice (for that race) cool weather and sun. See the previous post for info on that. Our Tuesday Night Ride (TNR) started two weeks ago and true to form we have been blessed with cold windy weather but at least it was sunny. Monday Night runs have been going well and we have had several women grace our group which is nice to see. Our first mechanics class of the year was very popular and will be repeated as well as a Women's Only Clinic later this summer. Check out our website for info on that. Our next big event is the Cellcom Marathon Expo which is turning into a huge event. Summer is scheduled to return this week and I cannot wait. Check out www.newvelo.org as a bike forum for our area. Our own Chris Mau put this together as a sounding board for cyclist in north east Wisconsin....and the world.

I expect things to settle down and I will catch up in the meantime get out and enjoy the spring.
